Barnet Council are flexing their muscles with the borough’s rogue landlords, as another is brought to justice as part of their efforts to clampdown on unlicensed landlords.
Habib Khan, who owns a property in Colindale, North London, received around £20,000 a year in rent letting his property to tenants whilst it was in a dangerous position. He was convicted at Willesden Magistrates Court for putting the lives of his tenants at risk, and has now been fined £25,000.
According to environmental health officers, the five-bedroom property was without smoke detectors or flame resistant doors, and did not have the correct gas safety certification or electrical testing paperwork required by law.
