Whilst a sporadic internet connection can be irritating, by spring 2017 a speedy broadband link could be more than just handy – it could be a legal requirement!
The Digital Economy Bill is currently being discussed in parliament, and if passed could mean that a 10Mbits per second internet connection is mandatory for all UK properties, both commercial and business.
Currently, around 2.4 million properties are still without a 10Mbits per second connection, however the bill Is hoping to change this. Known as the universal service obligation, the Bill is being discussed as a plan to boost the UK’s digital economy, the ideal speed that is being discussed is a connection of at least 24Mbits per second, however it is believed that the infrastructure is not in place to make this realistically achievable.
