Whilst London may have a property market all of its own (whether you are hoping to buy or rent) it seems that the capital isn’t the fastest growing market in the UK.
According to research from Spareroom, rents in commuter towns such as Luton and Swindon are climbing even faster that their London counterparts.
The research, (taken from the Spareroom Quarterly Rental Index January – March 2016) showed that monthly room rents in Luton have climbed 14% (with tenants paying an average of £446), whilst Swindon have seen a hike of 13% in the past year (an average of £455 a month). London may still have the highest rents, with an average of £747 a month for a room, but the capital only climbed 1.63%.
The areas with the lowest monthly room rates are Belfast (£278) and Bradford (£307).
