We’ve found out, in the UK’s Lettings Lust List!

We surveyed a selection of tenants from all over the UK, and the results are in, the top requirements that todays tenants look for in their dream rental property are:

1. Allows pets: 33%
2. Private parking: 16%
3. Large living space: 14%
4. Access to garden: 12%
5. Additional storage: 9%
6. Spacious bedroom: 7%
7. Close to amenities: 5%
8. Bath: 5%
9. Gas central heating: 0%
10. Own entrance: 0%

It turns out we really are a nation of animal lovers, with 33% of people surveyed saying they’d plump for a property that allowed them to bring their furry friends.

However, a parking space did come in second place, revealing that 16% of us value being able to pull up outside our home after a long day at work, rather than having to face the prospect of hauling the shopping in from a parking space miles away, in the Very British Drizzle!

Our love of entertaining put large living space and garden at number three and four, with 14% and 12% of respondents putting these elements at the top of their search criteria when searching for their dream pad.

Good news for landlords though – nobody valued gas central heating as something they’d look for. If there’s no need for it, why not consider switching to your property to electric, and save yourself the worry of having to have a gas safety check carried out?
