Hero landlord foils terror plot

Evictions are never a pleasant experience – you never quite know what you are going to find behind your front door when you take back possession of your property.

Once landlord in greater Manchester certainly found more than he bargained for in a recent eviction, when he evicted two tenants, and unknowingly uncovered a potential terror plot!

The landlord, who remains unnamed, attended the property in Whitefield, Bury to evict his two tenants, Hisham Mohammed and Faisal Ahmed, and came across a collection of axes, knives and combat clothing in the residential property.

Police were alerted and attended the property. Upon further investigation of the seemingly innocent residential home, police uncovered axes, knives, further weapons, combat clothing, balaclavas, camouflage make-up and significant extremist materials supporting Islamic State.

Both Mohammed and Ahmed were arrested – Mohammed was charged for preparing for acts of terrorism in the UK, and Ahmed charged for failing to alert officials about terrorist plans. It is believed that the plot was to target police and military buildings, or events. Both appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last week and were remanded in custody. They will appear at the Old Bailey on June 29th.
