Late-night Londoners are rejoicing this weekend, as the 24-hour tube is finally launched, and it’s great news for London landlords too!
With the plan to make London a truly 24-hour city swinging into place, it is predicted that properties that lie along the Central and Victoria lines, and latterly the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, will see rent hikes as tenant’s scramble to live on these well-connected locations.
It is expected that the change will also see people move further out of the city, to end-of-the-line areas such as Hillingdon, Walthamstow or Hounslow. The increased transport links will make moving in and out of town simple and inexpensive, and as inner city rental rates creep steadily higher, these less-well-known areas could soon become the next big thing.
This is great news for landlords who invested outside of the pricey central London boundaries, and experts expect a similar impact to London outskirts that we have seen in the areas benefitted by Crossrail.
'Crossrail towns', such as Slough and Reading have seen house price hikes of 39% and 33% respectively since the new link was introduced, so the new tube changes could be brilliant news!
